Preventive Care

Estero Bay Dental is a preventive-oriented practice. This means we want our patients to avoid costly restorative work by preventing problems or catching them early. Our Dental Hygienists offer gentle, thorough cleanings to remove plaque and tartar that can cause future problems. When examining your x-rays and your teeth, you can expect our dentist to be conservative in her recommendations. Our first preference is always to preserve as much of your natural tooth as possible.

Your dentists and dental hygienist can identify potential problems that you may not yet able to see or feel. When you maintain regular preventive dental appointments, you can stave off decay and gum disease, as well as identify the beginnings of oral health problems before they become severe. Be sure to specify that you want both an exam and a cleaning when scheduling.

Although we provide the full range of restorative and cosmetic dental treatments at our Estero dental office, our main goal is to prevent the need for these treatments by helping you have your best oral health. The American Dental Association recommends patients visit their dentist twice a year for a full cleaning and examination. Professional dental cleanings help remove built-up plaque that cannot be removed with conventional brushing and flossing. Regular cleanings are one of the best ways you can protect your tooth and gum health. With regular examinations, any problems that might arise can be caught quickly. Dr. Arellano can identify potential problems you might not yet be able to see or feel. Early detection generally means less extreme (and expensive) treatment options.

Between visits, proper home oral care is a very important part of maintaining your best smile. The links below provide useful tips on how to take care of your teeth at home.
