Root Canals

If a root canal is what’s needed to save your tooth, the Estero Bay Dental team will surprise you with an experience that is a lot less unpleasant than you may expect. With today’s tools and techniques, your experience getting a root canal will typically be very similar to getting a tooth filled.

Dr. Noboa and the team at Estero Bay Dental use the most up to date techniques to perform tooth-saving root canals with minimal discomfort to the patient. For a limited time, we are offering a reduced price on root canal and crown for uninsured patients.

In the past, if you had a tooth with a diseased nerve, you’d probably lose that tooth. Today, that tooth can usually be saved with a root canal. How can you tell if you need a root canal? Signs and symptoms to watch out for include temperature sensitivity, swelling, drainage, odor, pain, and discoloration of the tooth.

When a tooth is cracked or has a deep cavity, bacteria can enter the pulp tissue and germs can cause an infection inside the tooth. If left untreated, an abscess may form. If the infected tissue is not removed, pain and swelling can result. This can not only cause you to lose your tooth and injure your jawbones, but it is also detrimental to your overall health.

The root canal treatment entails removing the infected tissue, cleaning out the tooth interior, sealing it and filling it with a dental composite.  If the tooth has extensive decay, we may suggest placing a crown to strengthen and protect the tooth from breaking.

Adult teeth do not require pulp to function. As long as you continue to care for your teeth and gums with regular brushing, flossing, and checkups, your restored tooth can last a lifetime.

Some patients may worry that a root canal will be painful. At Estero Bay Dental, we use the latest techniques and technology so the typical root canal is similar to getting a filling.
